About.

I am freelance designer based in Santa Cruz, California. I have a decade of design & marketing experience ranging from agency, startup, and in-house. I strive to be a versatile designer and adapt my skills to solve many different problems for my clients which have included Mitsubishi, Schneider Electric, Hitachi, Halliburton, Gundersen Health, Athleta, Toyota, and more.

I am passionate about visual storytelling and design that is impactful and human. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking in my local area, reading fantasy novels, and starting a hundred personal arts and crafts projects I probably won't finish.

I am currently open to short and long term projects, freelance or agency collaboration, or the right full time opportunity.

Creative Process

Research

I believe the research phase is the most important phase. I try to take my time with interviewing key stakeholders and clients to get a complete picture of the right tone, channels, target audience, and project goals. With that in mind, I explore different venues for inspiration and create a mood board to present different possibilities.

Ideate

Initial idea generation for me should be focused on creating as many concepts as I can within timeline constraints. The more ideas the better, I don't spend too much time perfecting them at this stage. I like to play with ways to portray the same idea by changing up the style or color palette, but also have a variety of distinct ideas.

Refine

Once a direction has been settled on, I move on to push that idea further. There might be a few quick iterations that explore even further how to perfect the idea. Then I make sure everything is pixel perfect before presenting the ideas. Criticism is welcomed and changes are still expected.

Format

The design is done! The last step is file delivery or moving the project on to development. It's still an important phase to make sure the files are checked, double-checked and delivered properly. The final user should be able to use the design are needed without any issues.
